Anne Ward

Anne joined the BEL Team following her career as a Chief Executive in Social Housing having set up Dane Housing, Congleton Limited, the first Not for Profit Large Scale Voluntary Transfer Social Housing organisation in Cheshire in 1998.

She has participated as a Board member and Chair of a number of Social Housing organisations as well as previously being a NED on the National Housing Federation Board and its governance committees; alongside this being proactive and influencing on regional forums to promote economic development ambitions, social enterprise opportunities and to facilitate the increase of affordable housing. 

She has extensive experience of corporate governance as a board member, Chair and statutory appointee. She is passionate in striving to achieve good governance, quality of service and excellent people and teams and has undertaken assignments on Chair appraisals, board evaluations and mentoring roles both independently and as an associate.

This together with her broad background spanning public, private, third sector alongside her knowledge and enthusiasm for social enterprise and her clear understanding and empathy as to how they can work cohesively together to mutual benefit has added value to a number of the BEL projects she has participated in. 

An alumnus of the Oxford Said Business School, an MSc and a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing she is also acutely aware of the benefits to be derived from mentoring and coaching and has a diploma from the Coaching Academy. 

An enthusiastic tennis, squash and badminton player, her other loves are music and to ‘globetrot’.
