I know that it’s a bit of a “truism” but any asset is worth what the buyer is prepared to pay for it. The sad thing is that many investors get caught up in the hype surrounding a sale and forget the basics of investing or even worse just ignore them. When buying or investing you must always carry out your own evaluation and make sure you pay only what the asset is worth to you. If the price goes too high, don’t buy; other opportunties will come along!!
However, before criticising what someone pays for an asset, just remember that different things have different values to different people. Just because someone has paid more than you think they should have paid doesn’t mean that they have overpaid; be charitable and assume that there is an intrinsic value to the buyer that doesn’t exist for you.
